Top 10 Reasons Why
501(c)(3) Nonprofits Should Be Insured by

Alliance of Nonprofits for Insurance
Risk Retention Group (ANI-RRG)

1. ANI-RRG is part of the Nonprofits Insurance Alliance Group, which includes the Nonprofits’ Insurance Alliance of California (NIAC). All companies in the group are 501(c)(3) nonprofits and are governed by the nonprofits they serve.
2. Initial capital for ANI-RRG was provided by generous grants from the David and Lucile Packard Foundation and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Each foundation contributed $5 million in grants for a total of $10 million in capital for ANI-RRG and its affiliated company, the National Alliance of Nonprofits for Insurance (NANI), a captive reinsurer. NANI provides reinsurance to ANI-RRG and also to the Nonprofits’ Insurance Alliance of California (NIAC). All of these companies are related by affiliated boards of directors and all exist only to serve 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofits. All of these affiliated companies are also 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations. This group of companies has members' equity in excess of $55 million.
3. ANI-RRG is rated A - (Excellent) by A.M. Best.
4. The Nonprofits Insurance Alliance Group is reinsured by one of the world’s most respected reinsurers, Swiss Re.
5. We serve only 501(c)(3) nonprofits. ANI-RRG is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit so we understand the special needs of nonprofits, and is committed to meeting those needs.
6. ANI-RRG’s Board of Directors is elected by the members and made up of representatives of the nonprofit community it serves.
7. ANI-RRG is currently writing coverage for 501(c)(3) nonprofits in Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Utah, Vermont, Virginia and Washington.
